What is the GreenARMY?

Lt General Russel Honore

By now you have probably heard of the GreenARMY in Louisiana led by Lt General Russel Honore.

Gen Honore is the Commander who restored order in the aftermath of the levee breaks in New Orleans in 2005.

But you might be wondering exactly why the GreenARMY was formed and what it’s doing.

The GreenARMY is a loose coalition of organized groups, both large and small, with a common vision: Clean air, water and food in Louisiana.

The GreenARMY is refusing to allow unchecked, the continuing destruction of Louisiana’s coastal environment and water quality caused by unregulated and exploitative oil and gas extraction in the state and its coastal waters.

None of the GreenARMY are extremists. All are people from throughout the state who care about protecting water, air, food and life in Louisiana.

Under General Honore’s leadership, the groups continue to grow and support each other in their respective objectives.

There will be a GreenARMY Event at the Capital of Baton Rouge on Saturday March 8.

It is a chance to show support for the General and to hold big industry accountable for damage to Louisiana’s water and coastal resources.

Find out more about Gen Honore’s GreenARMY on Mon Feb 24 at 7p. First Unitarian Church, 5212 S. Claiborne. For more info, click here.

    Hello,

Are you organizing buses from New Orleans to Baton Rouge for the Water Festival? If so, is it possible to get the location details and reserve a seat? Thanks!

  2. S. Rosenthal says:

Yes, we have commissioned a bus. It departs from 1421 Soniat Street in uptown New Orleans at 11:00 a.m. You can reserve a seat on the bus by emailing sandy@levees.org
