Plaque Unveiling Ceremony Featured on NPR’s Morning Edition

On Monday, August 24, 2015, we unveiled our third historic plaque, this time in the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood.

NPR featured our plaque unveiling ceremony in a wonderful story on the national Morning Edition news program.

A Levees.org supporter texted me from Boise today to tell me that while she was in the tire shop, the story played on the radio. Afterward, the tire technician remarked that “he was really taken by the point that the city was flooded by the Corps of Engineers not a hurricane.”

This is evidence that the vetted facts about the flood are becoming mainstream.

Listen to the 2-minute story and you will hear Al Carnival Time Johnson singing “Lower Ninth Ward Blues.”
