Success in the Legislature today for Levees.org

Sandy Rosenthal speaks to Ryan Naquin with Fox8 News WVUE

This afternoon, a bill that Levees.org has championed – HB 266 – was debated on the floor of the Louisiana House of Representatives and passed by a vote of 93-0.

With overwhelming support from both Republicans and Democrats, not one single vote was cast against this good government Bill that will require term limits for the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority nominating committee.

This bill passed with amendments, authored by State Rep Patrick Connick-R (Marrero), will apply term limits to a small group that selects who controls more than $60 million of taxpayer dollars annually.

In the last seven days, Levees.org has listened to some concerns and – in consultation with Rep. Connick – was able to work out a compromise that protects taxpayer dollars.

While today’s vote on the House floor was a success, we are only half way there. Please stay tuned to further developments!
