Levees.org marked the first day of Hurricane Season by releasing a 2-minute video created with footage taken of our Unveiling Ceremony for a Historic Plaque hosted with grammy award winning performer Irvin Mayfield Jr.

The Historic Plaque, Levees.org’s second, was placed near the London Avenue Canal Eastside Levee Breach Site (corner of Warrington Drive and Mirabeau Avenue) in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans.

Mr. Mayfield’s participation included playing the Elysian Trumpet, dedicated to the memory of Irvin Mayfield, Sr. and all of the victims of the flooding on August 29, 2005.

While the Historic Plaque is Levees.org’s gift to the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, the text was crafted and the location was chosen in collaboration with the neighborhood association leaders and affected residents.

Being an avid contributor to “Historical Markers Data Base” (www.hmdb.org – HMdb) -and- knowing the deep pains involved from the storm:: it would be great to have some-one up-load photos and info to HMdb.

    Keep the Faith !
