Encouraging news from Dr. Ivor van Heerden

Today I received good news from Dr. Ivor van Heerden. He was invited to meet with a member of the Governor’s office who inquired about his issues at Louisiana State University. He also discussed the potential of Dr. van Heerden’s collaborating with the Governor’s Office on Coastal Activities in the future.

For those unfamiliar with the details, Dr. Ivor van Heerden, the coastal scientist who led the state’s independent Team Louisiana investigation of the levee failures after Katrina, was given notice last month by LSU that he would be dismissed in one year.

The efforts of the citizens of Louisiana and all across the nation made a difference!

On Friday morning, before leaving for the Netherlands with Senator Mary Landrieu’s CoDel, Levees.org will present the petition signatures to LSU Chancellor Mike Martin.

If you haven’t yet, please sign the petition!
