Judge Finds ‘Genuine Issues’ in Whistleblower Case Against LSU

Anything favorable for Ivor van Heerden in his wrongful dismissal lawsuit against LSU is good for the people of southeast Louisiana. That’s because when LSU fired the outspoken coastal scientist and shuttered the LSU Hurricane Center, the folks of southeast LA lost the only local independent voice they had.

And college professors nationwide were shown exactly what happens if you disparage a federal agency with purse strings while speaking out for the public good.

So news last week from the Associated Press that a federal judge had found merit to van Heerden’s claims is good news for a lot of people.
