New Orleans Mardi Gras goes on anyway

Dear Members,

Every day more of America is seeing and accepting that New Orleans flooded because of the misguidance and institutional negligence of the US Army Corps of Engineers.  This week’s issue of US News and World Report devoted a half page photograph of the Rally on the Levee with a clear image of our sign (page 71)!

Today is Mardi Gras Day.  Reporters asked me this past week why New Orleans is celebrating just six months after so much death and destruction.  I replied that the question ought to be “why was there so much death and destruction?”

What you can do THIS WEEK to help our mission:

  1. “Leaflet” at the Industrial Canal (lower Ninth) and 17th Street canal.  These two levee breaches are visited by a constant stream of passerbys driving slowly past.  Grab a stack of Fact Sheets and spend 30 minutes passing them out.  It’s fun!  You can download them or pick some up at 1421 Soniat Street in the garage.
  2. Talk and talk and talk.

Happy Mardi Gras!
