There’s new beautiful woodworking and trellises at the Levee Exhibit Hall. Come on out for a “teach me” moment.

Now that the cool weather of autumn has arrived, come visit Levees.org’s first ever outdoor levee exhibit at 5000 Warrington Drive in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans.

Residents and visitors alike can view six museum-quality exhibit panels housed in a 100-foot covered walkway. The text and forty photographs tell the story and bust the myths still encircling the levee breaches in Greater New Orleans in 2005.

The six panels are about ALL the levee breaches, ALL the neighborhoods, ALL the lives.

The Levee Exhibit Hall and Rain Garden are located at the east breach site of the London Avenue Canal. Photographs in the exhibit show how water from the breach had actually pushed the home that once stood there, foundation and all, into the street.

When Sandy Rosenthal founded Levees.org in 2005 with her son, he was barely more than 15 years old.

Sandy was leader and spokesperson. Stanford was the website designer. He also created the logo.

Neither mom nor son had any idea that the non-profit would still be going strong ten years later.

It took ten years and the help of thousands of supporters to expose the Army Corps of Engineers’ levee building mistakes and its disinformation campaign to cover them up.

Levees.org logs 900,000 visitors to its website

Using StatCounter, Levees.org collects data on its website and captured the exact moment the site logged 900,000 page views. CLICK TO ENLARGE.

Today, the Levees.org website logged its 900,000th visitor.

Nine hundred thousand times, folks have visited Levees.org’s website since its launch in 2005.

Lots of folks wanted to understand why the levees failed in the New Orleans region during Hurricane Katrina.

When Stanford Rosenthal, the founder’s son, created the site at the age of fifteen, no one had any idea the site would continue to be visited at an average of 100 times a day.

Levees.org is going strong because it took ten years of hard work to fully expose the Army Corps of Engineers’ levee building mistakes and its disinformation campaign to cover them up.
